Guyana is located on the northern coast of South America with Venezuela, Suriname and Brazil bordering to the west, east and south respectively. Although Guyana is part of the Anglophone Caribbean, it is one of the few West Indian Caribbean countries that is not an island.  This country has the distinction of being the only South American nation in which English is the official language. Guyana is a densely forested country with a dark reputation of political instability. While politics aren’t making things brighter, underneath the headlines of economic mismanagement is a joyful and motivated mix of people who are trying to bring the spectacular natural attributes of this country to their full ecotourism potential. Guyana has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. With 1,168 vertebrate species, 814 bird species, boasts one of the richest mammalian fauna assemblages of any comparably sized area in the world. The Guiana Shield region is little known and extremely rich biologically. Unlike other areas of South America, over 70% of the natural habitat remains pristine and untouched. Wherever you go, Guyana promises to make the trip of a lifetime.

Haiti

Nairobi, Kenya

Haiti  occupies the western, smaller portion of the island of Hispaniola, in the Greater Antillean archipelago, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. In French, the country's nickname is "La Perle des Antilles" (The Pearl of the Antilles), because of its natural beauty. Both by area and population, Haiti is the third largest Caribbean nation (after Cuba and the Dominican Republic).  French is the official language and Haitian Creole, which is spoken by virtually everyone, has yet to be legally legislated and signed into law by the Haitian government as an official language. Gaining its independence in 1804, Haiti was the first independent nation of Latin America , the second republic in the Americas, and the only nation in the world established as a result of a successful slave revolt. Its successful revolution by slaves and free people of color lasted nearly a decade; all the first leaders of government were former slaves. Haiti is one of two independent nations in the Americas (along with Canada) to designate French as an official language; the other French-speaking areas are all overseas properties of France.
