No special skills are required for participating for most L.I.O.N.'s programs other than being open-minded, passionate about serving humanity, physically fit and ready for the hardships of living in a developing country. Teachers in English teaching projects must be fluent in English. In health projects, volunteers must be either medically trained professionals (doctors or nurses) or currently on the process of being trained (medical students). You must produce proof of this.

Nothing is more important at L.I.O.N. than the safety of its volunteers. Families, staffers and the status of destination countries have all been carefully considered and screened long before projects are decided upon. Three layers of safety are provided for our volunteers: the in-country director, project staff, and comprehensive insurance coverage.

Teams will be divided in to two groups- Humanitarian Services and Evangelism. If a volunteer wants to parttake in both or one or the other, they are more then welcome to. We believe in both physical support and most importantly spiritual support, Spreading the gospel in Jesus' name in which we provide hope. We aim to challenge the people of the communities to rise up past their oppression, reaching new heights of both spiritual health and self sustanability.
